"our reading from Judges 4 is based on the very old version of the story found in Judges 5 a poem that Deborah sings. Judges 5 is believed to have been written shortly after the real battle back in the 12th century BC. One of the oldest, if not the oldest, story in the Bible remembers and records a woman playing a major heroic leadership role! And if that is not enough to get excited about, the story does not just lift up and honor a Hebrew female leader.
